- Giovanni nacque intorno al 1360 a Radicofani. Venne chiamato per tre volte a supervisionare la ricostruzione della fortezza di Porta Galliera agli ordini del Papa per poi essere costretto a dirigerne la demolizione al seguito dei cittadini bolognesi durante le rivolte popolari sollevate contro il governo pontificio. La sua presenza è documentata tra il 1416 e il 1420 a Ravenna per incarichi affidatigli dai Da Polenta, mentre sembrano emergere nello stesso periodo testimonianze anche di un'attività progettuale svolta presso Antonio da Montefeltro, conte di Urbino.Per il marchese di Ferrara Giovanni diresse i lavori di ingrandimento e adeguamento residenziale della Rocca di Finale Emilia (1425-1435). Dal 1428 venne coinvolto nella costruzione del Castello di Santa Agnese (Castel Nuovo), realizzato lungo il perimetro meridionale delle mura della capitale estense, lungo la riva sinistra del fiume Po. Le ultime notizie certe sulla sua vita si collocano nell'estate del 1438 mentre non oltre due anni dopo sembra risalire la sua scomparsa.
- Giovanni was born around 1360 in Radicofani. Giovanni was called three times by the Pope to oversee the reconstruction of the fortress of Porta Galliera, only to be then forced to supervise its demolition on behalf of the citizens of Bologna during the popular uprisings against the papal government. His presence is documented in Ravenna between 1416 and 1420 for the works assigned to him by the Da Polenta, while in the same period there appears to be evidence that Giovanni was also working for Antonio da Montefeltro, Count of Urbino.This letter highlights the admiration of the most important Italian sculptor (and architect) of the time and the high level of the works and the acknowledgments granted by the Marquis of Ferrara to the military engineer from Siena. This suggests that at the time the prestige and the fame acquired by Giovanni had become enormous. Moreover, For the Marquis of Ferrara, Giovanni directed the works of enlargement and residential adaptation of the Rocca di Finale Emilia (1425-1435). From 1428 he was involved in the construction of the Castello di Santa Agnese (Castel Nuovo), built along the southern perimeter of the walls of the Este capital, along the left bank of the Po river. The latest information about his life date back to the summer of 1438, while his death seems to have occurred no later than two years afterwards. Age.
