- La presente ricerca ha l'obiettivo di indagare una linea genealogica diversa del percorso di integrazione europea. Attraversando la biografia politico-intellettuale di Monnet cercheremo di dilatare temporalmente quel processo valorizzando uno strumento analitico raramente mobilitato in questo ambito: quello della logistica. Esattamente come la vita di Monnet, il racconto dell'integrazione europea si dà generalmente dal 1950 in avanti, a partire cioè da quando il 9 maggio Robert Schuman lesse la dichiarazione (scritta da Monnet stesso) che avrebbe condotto alla nascita della Comunità Europea del Carbone e dell'Acciaio (CECA). Ma tanto quanto la storia di Monnet, anche quella dell'integrazione continentale andrebbe indagata più in profondità. La storiografia e la manualistica tendono spesso a rilevare in quell'occasione un momento di rottura radicale: un “nuovo inizio” nella storia d'Europa. Questa ricerca vuole in qualche modo ridiscutere questa interpretazione, e tentare piuttosto di inserire quel momento in un regime di risonanza con il passato europeo vissuto finanche nei due drammatici conflitti mondiali. Allo stesso tempo, intende anche ricalibrare quell'esperienza alla luce di alcune determinanti che attraversano il mondo contemporaneo. Tutto ciò porterà a decifrare la “razionalità” che ha guidato il processo di integrazione, dimostrerà il ruolo determinante che ebbero le infrastrutture, e rileverà, infine, come l'area su cui s'è inscritto quel processo possa essere in ultima analisi definito come lo “spazio logistico europeo”.
- The present work has the aim to investigate a different genealogical line of the European integration process. Through the biography of Jean Monnet we will try to expand the temporal borders of that path, taking advantage from an analytical tool rarely utilized in such a topic: the one of logistics. As well as for the Monnet's life, European integration narrative has usually the 1950 as a starting point. In other words, it is usually narrate just from the 9th of May when Robert Schuman read the declaration (written by Monnet himself) which brought to the birth of the European Coal and Steal Community (ECSC). But such as Monnet's life, even the European integration history should be examine more carefully. Historiography usually described May 9th as a truly break point: a “new began” in the history of Europe. This research is trying to problematize this common interpretation. More specifically, on the one hand in the text we will propose to include that event in a sort of resonance with ta broadly “european past”, occurred even during the two World Wars. On the other, the aim of this paper is to read into that experience some categories which are wrap the global present. Eventually, all of this path first of all will bring has to decode the “rationality” which drove the European integration process; secondly, it will show the crucial role played by infrastructures; last but not least, it will reveal that the area where that process was developed is finally possible to be described as the “European Logistics Space”.
