- La tesi di dottorato indaga i percorsi e le forme della ricezione dei testi di Antonio Urceo detto Codro (Rubiera, 1446 - Bologna, 1500), professore di Retorica e poi di Greco tra il 1482 e il 1500 presso l’Università di Bologna. Dopo aver introdotto la ricerca nel filone degli studi sull'Umanesimo bolognese e sulla fortuna dei testi dell’Umanesimo italiano in Europa, l’autore ricostruisce la vicenda biografica e la fisionomia intellettuale di Codro considerando le testimonianze dei suoi colleghi bolognesi e dei suoi allievi italiani e stranieri, definendo alcune caratteristiche del contesto culturale della Bologna tra Quattrocento e Cinquecento. Con l’intento di studiare le aree maggiormente interessate dalla ricezione dei testi dell’umanista bolognese, individuando centri, circoli intellettuali e personalità chiave per la diffusione delle opere del nostro umanista nel continente, si pone poi attenzione tanto ai risultati della ricerca condotta sul versante della fortuna a stampa, quanto a quelli emersi sul fronte della tradizione manoscritta. Da un lato si analizzano le edizioni delle opere di Codro apparse in Italia e in Europa lungo la prima metà del ‘500, soffermandosi soprattutto sulle quattro impressioni dei suoi Opera omnia, e a quelle, numerosissime, del Supplementum all’Aulularia; dall’altro si descrivono, ponendo attenzione ai contesti di produzione, ai codici latori di versi inediti ed editi e ai manoscritti che recano traccia della sua attività didattica e dei suoi studi su Plauto. In seguito, dopo aver presentato i risultati del censimento degli esemplari degli Opera omnia presenti nelle biblioteche europee, si analizzano modalità di fruizione dei testi di Codro da parte di undici lettori europei. Si pone infine attenzione a come la figura dell’umanista bolognese fosse stata oggetto di attenzione da parte della tradizione critica sei e settecentesca, evidenziando le ragioni storico-culturali che portarono alla marginalizzazione della sua figura.
- The doctoral thesis investigates the routes and forms of the reception of the texts of Antonio Urceo known as Codro (Rubiera, 1446 - Bologna, 1500), professor of Rhetoric and then of Greek between 1482 and 1500 at the University of Bologna. After introducing the research within the line of studies on Bolognese Humanism and on the popularity of texts of Italian Humanism in Europe, the author reconstructs the biography and the intellectual physiognomy of Codro considering the testimonies of his colleagues and both his Italian and foreign students, defining some characteristics of the cultural context of Bologna between the 15th and 16th centuries. With the intent to outline the areas most affected by the reception of the Bolognese humanist's texts, identifying centers, intellectual circles and key figures for the diffusion of his works across the continent, the author exposes the results of research concerning both the success of the prints and the manuscript tradition. On the one hand, the editions of Codro's works appeared in Italy and in Europe during the first half of the 1500s, focusing mainly on the four impressions of his opera omnia, and on the very numerous ones of the Supplementum all'Aulularia; on the other hand, the manuscripts of both published and unpublished verses and the ones that trace his teaching activity and his studies on Plautus are described, analyzing the contexts of production. Subsequently, after presenting the results of the census of the opera omnia samples which are located in European libraries, modes of fruition of the Codro texts by eleven European readers are investigated. Lastly, attention is paid to the fact that the Bolognese humanist had been the object of attention by the sixteenth and eighteenth century critical tradition, highlighting the historical-cultural reasons that led to the marginalization of his figure.
