- Lo spettro offerto da un’approfondita tradizione critica è il concetto con cui si definiscono usi e appropriazioni dell’Antropofagia oswaldiana inaugurata dal Manifesto Antropófago del 1928. L’indagine proposta è, infatti, un’analisi approfondita delle molteplici letture, interpretazioni critiche e intellettuali e riproposizioni artistiche che sono avvenute, incessantemente, a partire dalla riscoperta delle opere di Oswald de Andrade negli anni ’50. Partendo dalla constatazione delle ambiguità costruite tra le letture dell’Antropofagia e le principali immagini interpretative che hanno generato miti e stereotipi sul Brasile, sono state indagate le molteplici appropriazioni artistiche e teoriche della metafora antropofagica – dal Tropicalismo alle più recenti applicazioni psicanalitiche – per comprendere come l’Antropofagia si sia trasformata nella contemporaneità e in scenari storici e politici mutati. La ricerca non è, dunque, solo un’indagine degli scritti oswaldiani, piuttosto un’analisi di ciò che l’Antropofagia è divenuta a partire dal loro “successo” e dalla loro incerta e ambigua ricezione con l’obiettivo di farne un bilancio e di mostrare quali siano le contemporanee impasse delle sue più recenti appropriazioni.
- The spectrum offered by an in-depth critical tradition is the concept used to define uses and appropriations of the Oswaldian Anthropophagy inaugurated by the Manifesto Antropófago of 1928. The proposed research comprises, in fact, an in-depth analysis of the multiple readings, critical and intellectual interpretations and artistic re-creations that have taken place incessantly since the rediscovery of Oswald de Andrade’s works in the 1950s. Beginning with an appreciation of the inherent ambiguities among the readings of the Anthropophagy and the main interpretative images that have long generated myths and stereotypes about Brazil, the multiple artistic and theoretical appropriations of the anthropophagic metaphor – from the Tropicalism fashionable in the 1960s to the latest psychoanalytic applications – are investigated to understand how Anthropophagy has been transformed into modernity and changed historical and political scenarios. This research is therefore not just an investigation of the Oswaldian writings, but rather an analysis of what Anthropophagy as an ethos as well as methodology for ethnography and cultural interaction has become since its rediscovery and their uncertain and ambiguous reception with the aim of making an analysis and to explore and elucidate the contemporary impasses generated by most recent appropriations.
