- Il lavoro consiste in un’analisi e riflessione semiotica su una particolare tipologia di passione sociale – il feticismo - verso una specifica forma di disposizione e organizzazione di fenomeni e oggetti culturali – la serie. Nella prima parte, Ri-velazione, mi occuperò dei contesti in cui storicamente è stata applicata la nozione di feticismo: religione e merce. Grazie alle riletture rispettivamente di Latour e Baudrillard, si criticherà la prospettiva ideologica su tale categoria, evidenziandone la portata strutturale e la specificità semiotica. A seguito di questa prima parte, si aprirà un intermezzo teorico dedicato all’estetica della comunicazione, con l’obiettivo di definire un luogo comune e di indagare il senso della relazione tra soggetto-feticista e oggetto-feticcio. Nella seconda parte, Rimediazione, il focus si stringerà ulteriormente sulla comunicazione e, in particolare, sui media. Attraverso la categoria estensione vs. amputazione (McLuhan) sino alla sua rilettura in termini di immediatezza vs. ipermediazione (Bolter e Grusin), emergerà l’ambivalenza e il feticismo del funzionamento e del consumo mediale. Seguiranno alcune analisi più specifiche sui social media e sulla televisione, soprattutto in riferimento al fenomeno della nuova serialità. In continuità con il primo intermezzo, una seconda sezione più teorica si concentrerà sulle soglie e frontiere della semiotica. Di fronte l’esacerbarsi delle logiche mediali e culturali – l’estasi della comunicazione (Baudrillard) - verrà ipotizzata la necessità di rileggere l’estetica della comunicazione attraverso una teoria dei codici e verso una teoria dell’informazione (Eco), che possa evidenziare la natura feticistica del rapporto con e tra i media. Infine, nella terza parte, mi occuperò della logica della Premediazione. In particolare, verrà evidenziata la capacità del sistema mediale e in generale dei sistemi semiotici di spingersi oltre i propri termini e il proprio termine (s-terminazione), attraverso l’integrazione di qualunque immaginario o realtà di una catastrofe futura.
- The work consists in a semiotic analysis on a particular typology of social passion – the fetishism – towards a specific form of organization and disposition of cultural phenomena and objects – the series. The first part, Revelation, will be focused on some of the contexts in which the notion of fetishism has been historically applied: religion and commodity. Respectively through Latour’s and Baudrillard’s reinterpretation of fetishism, I will critique the ideological perspective on this category, in order to highlight its structural and semiotic relevance. After this introductory part, a theoretical section on the aesthetic of communication will be useful to define a common place and to investigate the sense of the relationship between the fetishist subject and the fetish object. The second part, Remediation, will be further focused on communication and, in particular, on media. In reference McLuhan’s and Bolter and Grusin’s works, I will point out the ambivalent and fetishistic nature of media functioning and consumption. More specific analysis on social media and television will follow, especially in relation to the recent success of TV seriality. A second theoretical section will try to define the new frontiers of semiotic theory: nowadays communication - in its ecstatic phase (Baudriullard) - needs to be understood through a theory of codes – and towards a theory of information (Eco) – able to point out and explain the fetishistic relationship with and between media. The third part, Premediation, will investigate the ability of the media system - and of semiotic systems in general - to go beyond their terms and term (ex-termination), through the integration of any imaginary or reality of a future catastrophe.
