• Borders and Thresholds in Mikhail Bakhtin’s Thought
  • Soglie e confini nel pensiero di Michail Bachtin
  • Sini, Stefania

Description

  • Aim of the study is to show the meaning of the concepts of  ‘borders’ and ‘thresholds’ in Bakhtin’s thought. The two complementary concepts play a big role in the scholar’s ontology of relation. This essay focuses particularly on the first bakhtinian works, the philosophical and aesthetical ones, where ‘border’ is the same authorial activity, the “gift of the form”, encompassing and closing the content. It is indeed a useful concept for Bakhtin to fight the einfühlung theoreticians’ statements, but it will be soon susceptible of a reconsideration with regards to Dostoevsky’s heroes, to their constitutive insubordination and refractoriness to any definitive closure.
