In this paper I have described some aspects of the relationships established between the goatherd and the animals in a wild and semi-wild goat breeding farm. The paper focusses on the complex dynamics linking the physical habitat (space, time and climate), the ‘animal nature’ (instinct, behaviour observed and volitions) and the work of man, in organisational, relational, emotional and aesthetic terms, as well as anthropopoietic.With the expression ‘goatfold habitat’, I have attempted to highlight the contemporary natural and cultural characteristic of the context in which men, the environment and animals relate to and influence one another, establishing forms of negotiation in meaning and communication. The use of sheep bells represents an efficient example of dialogue with nature.

In questo articolo ho voluto descrivere alcuni aspetti della relazione che si stabilisce tra il pastore e gli animali nell’allevamento caprino brado e semibrado, cercando di focalizzare l’attenzione sulla complessa dinamica che lega unitariamente l’habitat fisico (lo spazio, il tempo, il clima), la “natura animale” (l’istinto, i comportamenti appresi, le volizioni) e il lavoro umano, nei suoi aspetti organizzativi, relazionali, emotivi, estetici ma anche antropopoietici.Ricorrendo all’espressione di “habitat-caprile”, ho voluto sottolineare il carattere contemporaneamente naturale e culturale del contesto in cui uomini, ambiente e animali si relazionano e si influenzano, stabilendo forme negoziali di significazione e di comunicazione. L’impiego dei suoni dei campanacci rappresenta in questo ambito un efficace esempio del dialogo con la natura.
