“Une fenêtre sur la ville”: pratiche dello sguardo nella Parigi prerivoluzionaria.

This article aims to show the relationship between the scientific discoveries of the XVIII century, especially optics and microbiology, and the rise of the so called “urbanistic literature” at the end of the century. Thanks to the instruments of cultural history, we could find lexical traces of this new realistic approach to the analysis of natural events in some important texts of the period. The way in which these writers described the reality is very important for historians and intellectuals, posing new problems about the history of French Revolution.

Scopo dell’articolo è di fare luce sui rapporti che legano le scoperte scientifiche di fine Seicento-inizio Settecento, in particolare la microscopia, alla nascita della letteratura urbanistica-realista della seconda metà del XVIII secolo. Grazie agli strumenti della storia culturale è stato così possibile rintracciare in alcuni testi capitali l’eredità lessicale di una precisa condotta analitica e gnoseologica che trova la sua origine nelle indagini sperimentali degli scienziati dell’epoca e che risulta fondamentale per porre nuove questioni riguardo la storia della Rivoluzione francese.
