This text shows how, for Paul Ricoeur, imagination as a poetic faculty allows us to structure the meaning of our action through metaphor and fiction. From this perspective, we will discuss the way in which such meaning is configured within the discourse as an absence that allows human will to judge its freedom and possibilities of action in the world. All of the above will allow us to argue that the poetic faculty and its cultural creations are the fundamental elements of the transformation of reality and the realization of the human will.

En este texto se muestra cómo para Paul Ricœur la imaginación, en tanto facultad poética, nos permite estructurar el sentido de nuestra acción a través de la metáfora y de la ficción. A partir de ello, se discutirá la manera en que tal sentido se configura al interior del discurso como una ausencia que posibilita a la voluntad humana juzgar su libertad de acción en el mundo. Todo lo anterior permitirá argumentar a favor de la facultad poética y sus creaciones culturales como elementos fundamentales de transformación de la realidad y de realización de la voluntad humana.
