• True, False, Fictive. The adversary by Emmanuel Carrère and the ambiguity of the non-fiction novel
  • Vero, falso, finto.
  • Fastelli, Federico

Description

  • The essay deals with the ambiguity of the contemporary non-fiction novel, taking the cue from The adversary by Carrère and its relation with In cold Blood by Truman Capote, the masterpiece of non-fictional novels. In cold Blood – I argue – we can identify a change in the perception of the dialectic link between truth and literature, and on the latter’s tasks. I argue that this change relies upon a particular mix-up of reality and truth.
