- In un panorama assai incerto quanto agli studi di italianistica sommersi da tempo da un’alluvione novecentesca e contemporaneistica, non può non provocare giusta soddisfazione la ripresa e l’arricchimento delle indagini filologico-critiche su autori settecenteschi.La vitalità delle problematiche relative alle carte del Giorno di Parini e la nuova edizione nazionale del teatro di Goldoni sembra che abbiano contribuito a rinvigorire gli studi filologici sulla letteratura moderna, studi che hanno attraversato e forse attraversano ancora un periodo di crisi. Le ragioni sono molto varie e non tutte dello stesso calibro: la crisi dell’editoria scientifica ha influito non poco: si sono chiuse da tempo collane storiche, le edizioni nazionali mancano sempre più di risorse. Inoltre ha influito la prevalenza di altri metodi meno attenti alle questioni filologiche e, dunque, al movimento del testo, alla sua genesi e evoluzione, e una forse eccessiva predilezione per l’ambito contemporaneo, certo non da trascurare, né da demonizzare, perché anche le carte della contemporaneità parlano e se ben ascoltate dicono molto per l’interpretazione del testo. Short itinerary between critical editions of the most important texts of Eighteenth CenturyThis paper focuses on the recovery and the enrichment of philological-critical investigations on Eighteenth Century literature. The studies of the manuscripts of Parini’s Giorno and the new national edition of Goldoni’s theater seem to have contributed to reinforce the philological studies on Modern Literature. Some of these studies that have gone through and perhaps are still going through a period of crisis for different reasons, as the close of historical collections and the lack of resources of the national editions. It has also influenced the prevalence of other methods less attentive to the philological questions and perhaps an excessive predilection for the contemporary context.
