- Nella narrativa contemporanea trova frequentemente spazio la rappresentazione di personaggi votati a una solitudine estrema e all’azzeramento dell’emotività. In particolare l’articolo si propone di analizzare i testi in cui il desiderio di allontanarsi dal mondo assume i tratti di una mutazione sostanziale del soggetto, che diviene, in una progressione reificante, eremita, fantasma, cosa. In Vila-Matas l’isolamento claustrofilico diviene gioco metaletterario, in Sebald assume le forme della solitudine eremitica, in Mari della autotrasformazione in fantasma, mentre Houellebecq e DeLillo sondano le frontiere del mutamento genetico e della criogenizzazione. Si può forse ravvisare in questa ricerca di solitudine radicale e di annullamento della propria identità umana una conseguenza abnorme - nonché sintomo molto rilevante - della necessaria barriera immunitaria che l’uomo ha dovuto innalzare per poter reggere e controbilanciare la dispersione di sé e la struggle for life che il vivere sociale richiede e purtroppo in qualche modo impone.The representation of characters voted to an extreme loneliness and to abolition of emotionalism frequently finds space in contemporary literary fiction. Particularly the article intends to analyze novels in which the desire to move away from the world assumes the traits of a substantial mutation of the subject, who becomes progressively a hermit, a ghost, a ‘thing’. In Vila-Matas, claustrophilic isolation becomes a postmodern game, in Sebald it takes the forms of hermitic loneliness, in Mari of self-transformation in ghost, while Houellebecq and DeLillo explore the frontiers of genetic change and cryonics. In this pursuit of radical loneliness and annihilation of human identity, perhaps it is possible to recognize an abnormal consequence - as well as a very remarkable symptom - of the necessary immunization barrier which human beings have lifted to hold up and counterbalance the fragmentation of individual and the struggle for life that society requires and unfortunately somehow imposes.
