• Utopia of Conversation, Utopia of a Renewed Community
  • Utopia del conversare, utopia di una comunità rinnovata
  • Brezzi, Francesca

Description

  • The essay presents a mirror reading of The Symposium of San Silvestro and the essay Invitation to lunch by Kant (Heller 1992), under the sign of utopia, to show how in the utopia of conversation traces of a renewed community-reality can be found. Both texts focus on fundamental concepts of ethics and living together. The characteristics of a good conversation – autonomy, pluralism and freedom of spirit – can form the bonds of humanity, which then means being citizens of the world (Heller, 1992: 113).
